Happy Birthday, Lemmings!

Yup, it's his first birthday (and a store where you can buy "tasty" beverages and foods to go). Instead of a gift he's got a new outfit. I decided he shouldn't look like an old newspaper anymore. So I've added some stars and stripes (o.k. just kidding -- but I've added some colors which may change depending on my mood). Fortunately, the new outfit can be undone. So if I get too many boo! emails, we can always go back. Thanks to contributors and everyone who's sent me links, comments and suggestions this past year.

Don't go back Brit, it looks much better!

And it doesn't take the better part of a day to load :-)

I agree with Ross - you just need to make sure it doesn't gradually end up resembling the Frank Ramsey Appreciation Society...............

like the new look Brit. And congrats on your first year? Any idea of the total number of clicks? And who is background photo? ? Is that Frege? The poor resolution on my laptop makes it hard to tell.

Brit Brogaard said...

Thanks to all of you! Adam: 71,141 clicks since I started the counter 7 or 8 months ago (uniques since I started the counter are shown on the main page). Yeah, the background picture is Frege.

The Frege's kinda creepin' me out. It's so faint that I thought it was a smudge on my screen, but then I noticed that it moved. But, I like being creeped out, so keep the ghost of Gottlob.

Frege?? Where?? You guys are creeping me out - I can't see anything! Is it like one of those magic eye things? I never could see them . . .

Brit Brogaard said...

Mark, I'm glad you like ghosts too :-) Ross, it's so faint it can only be seen in some browsers (if you look carefully). But it's there. If you scroll down the page it should be visible.

Wow, I can see him now, it totally escaped me until you guys mentioned it! Congrats on the first year, Brit!

Hey Brit.

Congrats! Very Scary Frege!

I really liked the new blue look on my laptop (and it loads much faster). On my desktop computer (with a flatscreen), the slightly off-white text is a bit hard to read. Any chancy of making it a bit whiter?

Brit Brogaard said...

Thanks, Dan and thanks for the tip, Robbie. I've made it whiter. Do let me know if it's too glary ('cuz I changed the color quite a bit, and laptops sometimes make things brighter than desktops).

Congrats, Brit. Like the digs, very cool feel. Must be the sea of Freges. Happy B-day to Lemmings!

Happy birthday Brit! There are three phi blogs I visit every day--yours is one. Now I have to confess I miss the old format--but I seem to be in the minority. In any case--I will be here! Look for Nathan Oaklander and me soon in Analysis--B-theorists of a feather!

The content is as always excellent. As for the new look, I prefer dark letters on a fairly light background (say dark blue letters on a light blue background) but then again this has something to do with my poor eyesight.

Thanks, Mike, Alan and Varol. Alan, I will definitely look for the Analysis article. When is it coming out? Varol, I tested darker colors on lighter background but it seems to me that this makes it even harder to read (unless the background is white or close to white). i have brightened the colors a bit. Hope that helps.

I like the brightened text better--easier to read.

Our paper appears to be provisionally slotted for the October issue, but we've seen no proofs yet. Thanks for asking!

Update: I have made the font bigger. Hopefully the posts are now easier to read.

Alan: I will definitely look for the Analysis article.
