For those of you wondering whether St. Louis made it past the 1950s. (HT: John Brunero)

This is really disturbing and saddening. It reminds me of _Reckless Eyeballing_ by Ishmael Reed. We haven't come as far as we think.
Also related, there was a (thankfully quite small) Neo-Nazi rally this past weekend under the arch:http://saintlouismodailyphoto.blogspot.com/2009/04/worst-of-us.html-Mark S
That's scary ... what's going on? I thought St. Louis was a pretty progressive and friendly city but apparently not.
I think it is pretty progressive. Keep in mind that there were 70 Nazis, and I imagine that's spread all over the bi-state area. They had to be protected by the police with fences. 150 anti-nazi protesters showed up, and there were at least two other anti-nazi rallies the same day in other places. I guess with any suitably large population you'll always find some nazis. There's more here: http://www.stlbeacon.org/region/nazi_rally_is_nothing_new_to_former_aclu_director. Still, it is disturbing.
